Conyers Dill & Pearman employees Coralie Hayward, Louise Payne and Franzine Smith have between them worked for the law firm for a total of 130 years.

Ms Hayward and Ms Smith have each worked for Conyers for 45 years, while Ms Payne has been with the firm for 40 years.

Ms Smith, who started as company accounts assistant when she was 19-years-old, said: “When I first started the firm was very small. The offices were at the old Bank of Bermuda building on one floor.”

She added: “I remember the original partners, the Dill family, Pearman family, Charles Collis and Walter Maddocks.

“I never thought I would be here so long, but I am not one of those people who every five years feels that they must move on.”

Ms Payne, who was 20 when she started at Conyers, added: “When we started, we knew everyone, but the firm has grown so much now. I remember moving to Clarendon House when the firm really started expanding.”

And Ms Hayward, who started her career at the law firm when she was 19-years-old, said: “I remember getting my long service award when I had worked for 15 years. I never thought then that I would be here after 45 years!”

Ms Payne is now a corporate manager with Codan Services, which is part of Conyers, Ms Hayward is an incorporations administrator with the law firm and Ms Smith works in the firm’s trust accounts department.

Stephen DeSilva, Conyers’ chief financial officer and chief operating officer, said: “To work for one company for so long is virtually unheard of nowadays.

“This really is an incredible achievement and we are very grateful to Coralie, Louise and Franzine for staying with us for so long and sharing their immense experience.”
