Ascendant: new appointments

Utilities firm Ascendant has announced three new appointments.

Leah Dean, senior vice-president of group human resources at Renaissance Re, will become a director, replacing Richard Spurling, who has retired from the board after 24 years.

Peter Durhager, chairman of the Ascendant board, said: “Ms Dean manages a global team of HR professionals in Bermuda, the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland and Singapore.

“Her skills and experience will make her a valuable member of the board.”

And Judith Uddin, former general manager and chief operating officer of Bermuda Gas, has become senior vice-president for Ascendant and chief operating officer of subsidiary AG Holdings Ltd.

She will oversee IFM, IEPC, Air Care, Purenergy, Ascendant Properties, Ascendant Internal Control Projects and other non-utility business.

In addition, Michael Daniel, former chief operating officer of AG Holdings, will take on the new role of senior vice-president Ascendant Group and chief strategic development officer.

He will be responsible for the integrated resources plan and its components, as well as the project management office, major construction projects and strategic initiatives and business development activities.

Anthony Joaquin, Donna Pearman and Michael Schrum were also re-elected as directors, and will serve up to the 2019 Annual General Meeting.
