Wright wins EY scholarship
A Bermudian university student has won a scholarship worth up to $150,000 from professional services firm EY.
Demi Wright is studying business administration and accounting at York University in Canada. She was chosen for the R. Gil Tucker Bermuda scholarship after a “highly competitive application and review process.”
Craig Redcliffe, a partner at EY Bermuda, said: “The EY Bermuda scholarship recognises not only high academic achievement, but also a high degree of community engagement. Demi has demonstrated both a keen interest in accounting and a commitment to building a better working world. We are proud to honour her as this year's recipient.”
The award is worth up to $30,000 for a maximum of five years until the winner has completed the minimum requirements to qualify as a certified public accountant.
The award is named in honour of former EY Bermuda chairman Gil Tucker and is aimed at students studying accountancy or another appropriate course and who have shown sustained academic excellence.
The scholarship includes an eight to ten week summer internship to gain practical experience as well as an offer of a full-time post at EY on successful completion of a course of study.
