IT firm CCS signs up with top cyber company

Bermudian IT firm CCS has teamed up with a high-tech expert in combating cyber threats.

The island company has become a partner with US-based Cylance — which uses artificial intelligence-powered prevention that blocks malware and advanced cyberthreats.

Peter Aldrich, general manager of CCS, said: “Endpoint protection is a critical component of any company’s cybersecurity ecosystem.

“Cylance’s cutting-edge technology will provide Bermuda businesses with an excellent way to improve their cybersecurity and to be genuinely predictive and preventive against advanced threats.

“This solution will also reduce costs incurred from recovering lost data and combating malware.

“Our partnership with Cylance is truly exciting and will enable us to effectively arm Bermudian businesses against cybercrime.”

Cylance replaces traditional antivirus methods with AI prevention and algorithmic science to predict attacks and block malware and other threats.

The Cylance system integrates the firm’s own cloud console, but it detects and prevents malware using mathematical models on the host, independent of the cloud or signatures.

Many advanced cyberattacks work by preventing traditional antivirus software from downloading signature updates that would help them defend against attacks.

Cylance technology is used by more than 6000 global organisations and more than nine million network endpoints.

Paulo Almeida, CCS security portfolio manager, said: “We’ve worked with companies across virtually every industry in Bermuda to recover data from ransomware attacks — sadly, this is a global trend.

“In our experience, Cylance offers the best and most cost-effective solution for combating advanced virus, Trojan and ransomware attacks.”

Brian Stoner, senior director of the worldwide managed security services provider channel at Cylance, added: “CCS is an ideal MSSP partner for Cylance because of their years of experience responding to cyberattacks inside leading Bermuda businesses.

“Cylance is pleased to work with leading service providers to help get truly effective, preventive security solutions in place to safeguard the vital data inside businesses everywhere.”

The Cylance system earlier this year was backed at the IT industry’s RSA Conference in San Francisco, where it earned the NSS Lab’s recommended rating for advanced endpoint security.

A recommended rating from the NSS shows a product has performed well and should be considered as a network protector.
