A Bermudian author with knowledge of information technology, asset and risk management tools has released a book on peer-to-peer lending and the securities crowd funding industry.

Kim Wales’s book Peer-to-Peer Lending and Equity Crowdfunding: A Guide to the New Capital Markets for Job Creators, Investors and Entrepreneurs, highlights the inequality gap is widening and persists worldwide.

Ms Wales looks at how emerging growth companies and small businesses are the fuel for the global economy, yet many find it difficult to obtain the money needed to start, grow, and sustain their businesses.

She has hands-on experience in peer-to-peer lending and equity crowdfunding. The book aims to serve as a resource for investors and entrepreneurs, it investigates how alternative mechanisms will increase the financial and operational capacity of borrowers, lenders, buyers, and sellers in the private markets.

Ms Wales lives in New York and is the founder and chief executive officer of CrowdBureau Corporation and Wales Capital, LLC. She is also an adjunct professor teaching a class on Entrepreneurship: Women and Diversity at the City College of New York.

In the book, she explores how women and the millennial generation can influence “crowd” direct investment, economic freedom, and economic growth. It looks at how investors and entrepreneurs can leverage social networks, and also describes how debt and equity crowdfunding works and explains investment approaches, secondary markets, governance and compliance, transparency, and risk models that are necessary for investors to make informed decisions.

The 272-page hardback book features a foreword by Garry B. Crowder. It is published by ABC-CLIO.
