One suspends disconnections, boosts speeds

Telecoms company One Communications is pressing the pause button on service disconnections for an indefinite period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.One said mobile, internet, television and home phone accounts will remain active even in the event that payments are not made or are late.A spokesperson said: “Simply put, your services will not be interrupted for late or non-payments resulting from pandemic issues and we are waiving all associated late fees which will be more fully explained on our website. “We encourage those customers not financially impacted by the pandemic to keep their account balances current.” One also announced that customers on FibreWire internet plans will be boosted at no additional cost to a minimum download speed of 50Mbps. “This increase allows for multiple users in the home to be online simultaneously, the streaming of HD video content, and more,” One said.The company advised customers to activate the speed boost by rebooting their modem by unplugging it from the power outlet, waiting a few minutes, then plugging it back in. One is also adding channels in the “News” and “Kids” categories for its FibreWire customers at no additional charge.Changes are effective March 23, the company said.One encouraged its customers to follow the company’s social media channels for updates, and to watch its community channel one.
