Corporate lawyer Raza joins Carey Olsen

Bermuda-qualified corporate lawyer Sheba Raza has joined Carey Olsen in London to expand the law firm’s Bermuda law capabilities in the UK.She was previously a counsel with Conyers for 13 years, and is the first Bermuda-qualified lawyer to be based at Carey Olsen’s London office.Carey Olsen said the appointment means it is the only offshore law firm in London supporting clients with “on-the-ground legal advice on the laws of Bermuda, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey and Jersey”.Ms Raza has acted for a broad range of financial institutions and public and private companies across the energy, insurance, real estate and financial services sectors. She specialises in finance matters and is also experienced in segregated account company structures, cross-border acquisitions, corporate reorganisations and equity investment transactions.In addition to practising Bermuda law, Ms Raza was admitted as a BVI solicitor in 2012. She has been recognised in the global and UK editions of legal directories Chambers & Partners and Legal 500. She is also the only individual ranked in the “Foreign expertise based abroad section” of the Bermuda rankings.
