Three day seminar raises awareness of fire protection
As a way of raising standards of fire protection on the Island, the Bermuda Security Group organised and hosted a three day seminar, which aimed to turn up the heat on fire protection.
They brought in an expert from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which is an internationally recognised body from the US last month.
The seminar was held at the Bermuda Fire Service training facility, in Hamilton, under the invitation of Chief Fire Officer Vincent Hollinsid.
Bermuda Security Group (BSG) compliance and training manager Andrew Lavery said that the speaker was NFPA expert was Richard J. Roux, who is a senior electrical engineer.
In attendance were technicians and managers from BSG, officers from the Fire Protection Division of the Bermuda Fire Service as well as guests from Belco, the Bank of Bermuda (HSBC), Tuckers Point and The Waterfront Properties.
“The reason for the seminar was to update all on the latest fire code changes as per NFPA 72 (2007), which is the main reference for the installation, inspection and maintenance of fire alarm systems in North America and Bermuda,” said Mr. Lavery.
“The Bermuda Fire Service are now being very proactive in providing the best fire protection to citizens of Bermuda by ensuring that all fire codes are rigorously adhered to.
“Bermuda Security Group wholeheartedly support the Bermuda Fire Service in achieving this goal.”
