'We were truly looked upon as superstars'
Twanée Butterfield was one of the three who represented the Island at three events during the Kentucky Derby.Miss Butterfield said performing for all the students was a “very refreshing experience.”
“The kids were full of energy and extremely welcoming, as we performed for them on stage. Performing for them was probably one of the best events that we took part in simply because we were not only role models, but we also appeared as ‘stars’, which was a delightful and satisfying feeling.”
All in all, she said that the highlight of going and performing in Kentucky, during the
Derby was the acceptance of the audience.
“They enjoyed us so much that we kept on getting invites to perform at more and more events,” she said.
So, how did she find the US audiences versus those on the Island?
“As much as I love and appreciate Bermuda’s audience, in my opinion, Bermudians are not ‘star struck’.
“And that’s the main difference between the audiences out there in the US versus those on the Island. When we were in Kentucky we were truly looked upon as superstars and it was an immaculate feeling.”
