The Centre on Philanthropy to host conference

The Centre on Philanthropy will be hosting Bermuda’s first Third Sector Conference on June 1 and 2 at The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI).

The conference entitled ‘Giving in Partnership’, will explore the many ways the community can come together to have greater impact.

Speakers will include renowned international and local participants in the non-profit sector, including representatives from Coca-Cola, PartnerRe, Atlantic Philanthropies, World Vision, KPMG and New Philanthropy Capital.

“This conference is a landmark event for both The Centre and the Island,” said Centre on Philanthropy executive director Pamela Barit Nolan.

“Never before has the community been able to take part in this type of conference locally. Our stakeholders, both non-profits and donors, requested that The Centre incorporate a conference into the planning schedule to allow them to participate in critical professional development training sessions without having the expense of travelling abroad.”

The conference will provide the community with the opportunity to gain insight into all aspects of the Third Sector. There will be workshops specially geared towards non-profit employees, volunteers, donors, board members, youth and social activists.

The Donor Forum has collaborated with The Centre, developing the sessions offered to the corporate donor community as the conference replaces the biennial symposium held for forum members in the past.

Workshop topics include fundraising, marketing and communications, board governance, grant outcome management, faith-based partnerships and youth philanthropy.

“When organising this event, we not only wanted to ensure that it would be a first-class event, but also that it would focus on topics of importance to our members,” said Ms Barit Nolan.

Registration for the event is limited to 150 participants, and spaces are going quickly. Interested persons are encouraged to call The Centre at 236-7706 or visit The Centre’s web site at www.centreonphilanthropy.org.
