Charity boat run to benefit Diabetes Association
It’s “all aboard” for the Bermuda Diabetes Association’s annual charity boat run on June 10, when powerboats, sailboats and watercraft are invited to participate in a waterborne version of poker.
The fundraiser will begin at noon at Snorkel Park, where players will receive a sealed envelope containing their first playing card. At each of the four other stops along the route — Somerset Bridge, Rockaway, White’s Island and Gibbet Island in Flatts — they will collect another sealed envelope. At 4 p.m. at the final destination, Snorkel Park, the envelopes will be turned in to the organiser, who will then open them and display the contents to all participants. Prizes will be awarded to the top poker hands.
The entry fee of $35 per person includes a barbecue dinner at Snorkel Park at 6 p.m., with music by DJ Brian. Entry forms and further information are available on website www.charityboatrun.bm.
Completed forms plus the $35 should be dropped off at the Marine Locker on Gorham Road in Hamilton, where entrants will receive a $25 gift voucher.
For those not playing but travelling in the watercraft, food can be purchased at Snorkel Park.
All participants are advised to call marine channel 7 on June 10 for further information. In the event of bad weather, the rain date is June 11.
The annual charity boat run helps to finance the Bermuda Diabetes Association’s mission, which is “to lead the Bermuda community to reduce the prevalence of diabetes, and improve the lives of those affected”.
