Changing the way you think about yourself

Coming soon US author, educator, businessman, and motivational speaker Stedman Graham is to conduct a personal-development seminar on behalf of The Family Centre on June 21.

Is a lack of personal identity preventing you from reaching your full potential as a human being, leading a more rewarding life, and developing leadership skills?

Then you are sure to benefit from US author, educator, businessman and motivational speaker Stedman Graham’s “Success Process for Building your Life’s Foundation” seminar at the Bermuda College on June 21. Mr. Graham, also known as TV personality Oprah Winfrey’s long-standing partner, is coming to Bermuda at the invitation of The Family Centre.

The education initiative is open to persons aged 16 to 30, and admission will be fully sponsored by Tokio Millennium Re Ltd., but all attendees must register in advance.

Mr. Graham’s message is: “The greatest opportunity in life is to have a sense of who you are. The freedom that comes with finding out who you are is your foundation, and a gift that allows you to pursue a life that is fulfilling, meaningful, and rewarding.

“Knowing who you are is defined as being comfortable with yourself and your surroundings, connecting to what’s real and being able to feel your authenticity, looking past labels, and having clarity about your life and your possibilities.

“Most of us take years trying to figure out just who we are, but too many of us never find out. If we fail to define ourselves, we risk being defined by the world we live in. We allow others to define us — by our race, our gender, our background, our job, or our environment. We buy into the labels that keep us in a box, and as a result of these limitations, we may never realise our greatest potential.

“So how do we break free of these patterns and out of the routine of doing the same things over and over? The answer is that we need to change the way we think about ourselves and our possibilities.

“The June 21 seminar will help participants to develop the leadership and living skills which form the basis of academic and workforce success.

“In the programme, insights will be provided on how participants can cultivate their potential, expand their opportunities, and empower themselves to participate at all levels of leadership, personally and well as within schools, the community and organisations, while serving as advocates and mentors to others aspiring for greater achievement.

“Through the seminar, they will become equipped to initiate change via effective communication, initiative, demonstration of skill and results, and perseverance to succeed. They will also begin building on the strengths of others through networking and teaming with other leaders.”

In summation, Mr. Graham’s ‘Who Are You’ programme will assist participants to:

* Change how they think about themselves and their possibilities.

* Recognise and analyse attitudes and behaviours standing in the way of success.

* Develop a vision for their lives.

* Create a leadership approach suited to their character, values and goals.

* Develop strategies for overcoming roadblocks to success.

* Appreciate and learn to invest in themselves, which are keys to achieving individual excellence.

* Recognise that each individual is a “brand”.

The seminar will begin with a continental breakfast and sign-in at 8.15 a.m. Coffee will be served mid-morning, and each registrant will receive a complimentary copy of Mr. Graham’s 2005 book, ‘Who Are You?’.
