Duane Jones and Natasha Nurse

Justin S. McAlister, son of the late Felicia McAlister (nee Ruberry) of Somerset, has received a Ph.D. degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. McAlister’s research interests are in the fields of marine larval biology and evolutionary ecology.

He has conducted research at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, the Lizard Island Research Station in Queensland, Australia, and at several marine research stations in the United States.

In addition to his Ph.D., Dr. McAlister holds M.S. and B.S. degrees in Biology from the University of South Carolina and the University of Richmond, Virginia, respectively.

Sharmaine Landy has graduated summa cum laude with a GPA of 3.91 from Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama with a degree in Business Administration, and a minor on Marketing.

Sharmaine attended Elliott Primary, Whitney Institute and CedarBridge College. She was a Honour Student in all schools.

Attending the graduation ceremony were her mother Lillian Ingham, aunt Claudine Burgess and friend Nadra Outerbridge.

Patrick Dill of Pembroke, Bermuda will be enrolling at Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Patrick graduated from Saltus Grammar this spring and will pursue a degree in Information Management. He is the son of Rudolph Dill and Deborah Dill.

Carl R. Fletcher IV received the BA degree on June 7 from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Virginia.

Commencement ceremonies for more than 412 Washington and Lee students were held on the university’s historic Front Lawn.

The history major is the son of Mr. and Mrs Carl R. Fletcher of St. George’s, Bermuda.

Mr. Duane Jones and Mrs. Rochelle Emery-Jones are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Duane Jr, to Natasha Nurse, daughter of David and Yolanda Nurse.

A summer wedding is being planned in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Rachel K. Willitts, daughter of Peter and Lucy Willitts graduated from Ryerson University, in Toronto, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

Rachel spent a six week secondment in Zambia, Africa while pursuing the degree. She intends to pursue a masters in education.

Family and friends attended the graduation on June 15, at the Ryerson Theatre in Toronto.

Sylvia E. Dowling has received a Master’s degree in Counselling and Applied Sciences with a concentration in College Student Development from Northeastern University, Boston, Massachusetts.

Sylvia will be studying student affairs in South Africa this summer as a continuance of graduate study, and will follow through with advanced graduate study in the near future.
