Sexy, but tasteful

Hot competition: The Chaplin Bay swimsuit showdown will be local models competing with overseas ones.

Tomorrow night, local models will compete against models from the UK, China and America for a $2,000 grand prize at Chaplin Bay in Ultimate Entertainment's 'Swimsuit Showdown'.

Event co-ordinator Stacy Hill, owner of Secrets said the event is for men and women alike and will be "very sexy, but tasteful".

"Basically it's going to be a swimsuit showdown with approximately ten overseas models coming here from England, China and America."

Ms Hill said a lot of the women have excellent biographies modelling for magazines, auto shows, trade shows and hosting celebrity events for stars including Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson.

There are also local models competing in addition to the overseas guests.

"There are locals competing like Dy-Anne Simons. She is a real Bermuda beauty so I think she will fare well in the competition," Ms Hill said.

The event is not intended to be a fashion show but a competition. The models will compete against each other for prizes of $2,000, $1,000 and $500.

"It's not going to be about the swimsuits," Ms Hill said. "You have to be exotic, you have to be sexy when you are wearing the bikini. You are going to be the one out there, not the bikini. It's all about how you carry yourself, how you want yourself to be perceived."

She said there is a dunking stool the models will be in and they will be armed with Super Soakers to wet the audience to get them in a sexy, beach vibe.

Music will be provided by Vybez Alliance, Souljah1 and Twin Starr.

Tickets are $45 and can be bought at Secrets, Dub City and New Life.

The models will be in the Secrets store in Washington Mall late this afternoon doing promotion, taking pictures and signing autographs.
