A room with a Bermudian view
If little Elliana-Quinn Judice grows up to be an enthusiast of all things Bermudian it will hardly be a surprise.
For the ten-month-old from West Columbia, South Carolina, spends most of her time in a nursery inspired by our Island?s distinctive architecture.
The little girl?s parents, Larry and Marcell Steely-Judice honeymooned in Bermuda nine years ago while Mrs. Steely-Judice had been a regular vacationer here for many years before she met her husband.
Mr. Judice said he finally understood the beauty of the Island, the people and the architecture that his wife had discussed.
Mrs. Steely-Judice is an interior and wedding designer by trade, and Mr. Judice is a builder. So when they were having their first child friends and relatives wondered how they would design the nursery.
?When I got pregnant everyone wanted to know how I would decorate the baby?s nursery,? Mrs. Steely-Judice said.
?We got out a lot of honeymoon pictures and old calendars of Bermuda and started looking and designing.
?We thought ? it is doable and we worked at it.?
When Elliana-Quinn, now ten months, arrived she was greeted with her little Island home.
Her cot is set into a Bermuda home, complete with a slated roof, blinds and a doorway.
The room has a sky blue ceiling and the walls are decorated with butterflies, window boxes and a picket fence.
Her closets are made to look like a mini Front Street replica ? the buildings have white roofs and eaves, a balcony, chimneys and a Bermuda flag.
Next to her cottage there is a lit palm tree, hanging vines on an arbour and a mural looking west to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse.
Mrs. Steely-Judice said that when everyone saw the room they fell in love with it.
?Older children come over to play ? they like the room so much,? she said.
?The crib is adjustable and can accommodate a double bed as she grows.
?We are hoping that Elliana-Quinn will like it as she gets older as well.?
