African civilisation, culture and history to be the focus of weekend seminars

A couple who plan to enlighten audiences on the secrets of Africa?s past will hold two seminars this weekend.

Ashra and Merira Kwesi, of Kemet Nu (Black People?s) Productions are lecturers on African history, civilisation, religion and culture.

During the lectures, which take place at the Fairmont Southampton Princess at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on October 15, they will discuss firsthand information of the ancient temples, tombs and papyrus papers recorded during a period when African?s were the world?s teachers.

David Tucker of Zentech Productions said the lectures are on The Theft of African History and Western Freemasonry and Sistahs (Sisters) In Struggle ? A Tribute to Ancient and Modern Black Women.

Over the course of the event, they will also honour three women of African descent who made an impact on the Island over the years.

Educator Merle Brock Swan Williams, former PLP politician Dame Lois Brown Evans and Helena (Molly) Burgess, the secretary of the Bermuda Industrial Union, have been selected for the honour.

The Kwesis present lively and dynamic slide presentations and videos based on their extensive study and travel on the African continent. They have lectured in numerous universities and organisations, some of which include the National Black United Front, African Holocaust Conferences, United African Movement, ASCAC (Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations), the US Airforce African Study Groups, in Japan, Big 12 Black Student Government Conference, the

People for Universal Consciousness, in Bermuda, and Strength to Strength, in the US Virgin Islands.

Between them they have over 36 years of experience.

Mr. Kwesi has spent 24 years travelling and researching in the African Nile Valley.

Fourteen of those years were spent in apprenticeship of the renowned scholar and Kemetologist Dr. Yosef ben Jochannan, in Egypt (Kemet). He now reveals shocking and compelling details on the African origin of civilisation and religion by means of spirited onsite lectures with eyewitness accounts.

Mrs. Kwesi has been studying and travelling for 12 years in the same area. Her presentation is on the culture and female personalities of ancient Egypt and Ethiopia.

The couple also conduct annual Kemet Nu (Black People) ?Know Thyself? Educational Tours to Egypt and Ethiopia and link the historical with the present to bring ?our story? to life.

Tickets are available at the Metaphysical Bookstore and True Reflections and Hott 107.5 radio station. For patron tickets call 799-3033 or go to website www.kemetnu.com.
