Art to be the focus of new lecture series

Local artist Andra Simons today kicks off the first in a series of lunchtime lectures to be conducted by Bermudian and international artists between now and next May.

His topic will be `Creating Artistic Opportunities', and it begins at 12.15 p.m. in Rehearsal Room A201 at CedarBridge Academy.

Mr. Simons is well known in local theatre and poetry circles, and in 1999 won the Bermudian Magazine's `Best of Bermuda' award as `Best Thespian'.

A graduate of George Brown Theatre School, he has extensive experience through being associated with such groups as as Black Box Productions, Flow Sunday, WaterSpout Theatre (of which he is a founder) and the Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society in acting and directing capacities.

Mr. Simons' belief that there is a mutual aim here to expand the possibilities for local art and artists is shared by the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Performing Arts, which is sponsoring the entire lecture series.
