Ballet association offers 2002 summer school grants

Dance students may be able to get their toes tapping after the Bermudian Ballet Association offered a number of small grants for summer school tuition.

The association is offering the funds to students over the age of 12 to go towards tuition, either in Bermuda or overseas.

Since 1962, the association has been awarding scholarships, and with an increase in the number of dance students on the Island, they hope to increase funds available in the years to come.

Interested applicants should apply in writing to the Bermuda Ballet Association at PO Box HM661, Hamilton, HMCX, or fax to 234 3830, by June 28 at 5 p.m.

New radio show for Saturday afternoons

A new show featuring an eclectic mixture of club music and techno beats is airing on VSB 106 FM between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturdays.

Mark Bartley aka Fozzy, a disc jockey for Ozone, previously Oasis, is hosting the pilot programme.

He said: “The two hour show will have non-stop garage, house, Latin, reggae and both old and new dance hall - music rarely heard radio or in clubs.”

One of the organisers Brenton Richardson, from www.Bermynet.com and webmaster for the Bank of Butterfield said: “The show is for bedroom listeners, people who buy a CD and take it home for a quick listen.

“The show will feature live web chat at bermynethotmail.com where you can chat online.”
