Beenie Man part of Bermuda Day holiday concert
A Grammy Award winning artiste will kick off the festivities for Bermuda Day.
Beenie Man, who is also known as the King of the Dancehall is one of the many artistes who will take part in the "Dem Get Heart Attack" concert, which is on May 23.
E.N.V.Y. Productions spokesman Declan Harris said the other concert participants are Kirk Davis, Don Mafia, D'Angel, Shotta, with special guest dancers Shelly Belly and Dahlia, who is the Portmore Dancehall Queen. While the local artistes are Banby B and Souljah One.
Of Beenie Man, Mr. Harris said he is the ultimate entertainer.
"He takes you on a journey with his catalogue of hits that stretch over 25 years," said Mr. Harris of the once child star.
"He appeals to young and old with up to the time 'levels' as well as classic ballads that many 30 and 40-plus locals will remember well.
"Beenie Man has embraced the dancing craze, which has taken dancehall back to its roots like the days of the heel and toe. It is not unusual to see 10 to 20 youngsters moving in unison."
The last time Beenie Man performed in Bermuda was Cup Match 2004. "He drew a crowd of over 3,000 patrons and those that didn't attend were bitterly disappointed," claimed Mr. Harris.
"He enjoys Bermuda and looks forward to ushering in Bermuda Day in a 'Zagga Zow' style and this is the first look at him during his promotional summer tour."
But, pointed out Mr. Harris, patrons will not only get to see Beenie Man but the entire Shocking Vibe Crew with singers, DJs and dancers.
"One in particular is D'Angel who has emerged as the leading female DJ and her stock has risen significantly since parting ways with Bounty Killer."
