Bermuda-based BIFF films to return at BUEI
For all who missed the Bermuda films during the recent Bermuda International Film Festival, as well as those who want to see them again, there is good news.
On April 30, May 1 and 2 Linda Spurling?s ?St. David?s: An island near Bermuda? and Dana Zhyon Selassie?s ?Children of the Sea? will return to the screen of the Tradewinds auditorium at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute.
The popular, locally-produced films capture true Bermuda stories.
From the beginning of the Island?s history, the sea has played an important part in day to day life, and throughout the centuries many have lived and died according to the whims of the ocean.
Miss Selassie?s film exemplifies this through interviews and real accounts of survival by many people involved in boating tragedies: survivors, families, rescue workers and every day boatmen.
Miss Spurling?s film provides an entertaining and educational oral history of the way of life and craftsmanship of St. David?s Islanders.
The full-length documentary is the first of its kind to record this unique part of our Island history, as the colourful Eastenders share their experiences, memories and cultural heritage in their own words.
