Today's BIFF "Chats With." panel to feature Vanz Chapman

Bermudian writer/directors Vanz Chapman and Errol Williams will discuss Mr. Chapman's new book, "Reel Black: Guess Who's Comin' to Tha Movies", Wednesday April 16 at the Bermuda Society of the Arts, City Hall, Hamilton.

The discussion, which will take place from 12.30 p.m. - 1.30 p.m., will focus on black urban cinema before, during and after the hip-hop era. Admission is free. A book signing will follow.

Mr. Chapman studied filmmaking at the London International Film School before earning an MFA from Howard University. At Howard, he won the Paul Robeson Award for his short film, "In America". In 1997, he was writer-in-residence at the Canadian Film Centre. He is currently producer/co-creator/writer of the series "Lord Have Mercy", which airs on the Vision television network.

John Barritt & Son is providing free Evian to attendees, and sandwiches will be available for purchase from Grand Central Deli.

Tickets are still available for the festival's Wrap Party and Awards ceremony Thursday April 17 at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel. Tickets are $50, and include all food and drink. They are available daily from noon to 6 p.m. at the festival's central meeting place, Harbour Room, # 1 Shed, Front Street or from the Liberty or Southside theatres.
