Bluebird nest-box construction workshops to be held Saturday

The Bermuda Audubon Society is holding its annual Bluebird nest-box construction workshop at Government House on Saturday 12th March at 9 a.m.

Participants in the workshop will work alongside expert nest-box builders and learn how to construct and site a Bluebird nest box for best results. Boxes completed during the workshop will be offered for local sale, with proceeds going towards Bluebird conservation efforts.

President of the society, Andrew Dobson said: "Families are particularly welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. All materials will be provided, but please bring a hammer. This is the time of the year to start putting boxes up in your garden, so if you need a box, please do come and join us.

"You will also be given full instructions on how to monitor your box, which is crucial if you want to keep the sparrows out and raise some bluebird chicks."

Registration for the workshop should be made at infoaudubon.bm or 238-3239. The workshop is free, but donations will be encouraged towards the cost of the materials.
