Bridge team in strong finish
Bermuda's bridge team are through to the semi-finals of the CACBF Championships in Martinique, having finished strongly in the round-robin phase with victories over the hosts (20-10) and St. Lucia (24-6).
At the completion of round robin play, the team of Roman Smolski, Charles Hall, Jack Rhind, Vera Petty, Alan Douglas, Tony Saunders and Ian Harvey were in second place with 122 points, nine behind leaders Guadeloupe.
Venezuela finished third on 115 and Trinidad and Tobago fourth on 109.
Having won the round robin, Guadeloupe had the right to choose to play either the third or fourth placed team. They opted for Venezuela, so Bermuda faced Trinidad and Tobago and at the half-way mark were in front.
Trinidad were assessed a penalty for turning up late.
