Brown to speak at Foundation AGM

Tourism Minister Ewart Brown is the speaker at tonight?s annual general meeting of the St. George?s Foundation.

Foundation executive officer Sharon Jacobs said the meeting will start at 7.30 p.m. at Penno?s Cruise Ship Terminal.

The Foundation is likely to discuss its plans for the conversion of the Queen?s Warehouse at Penno?s Wharf into a World Heritage Visitors? Centre.

The Heritage Visitors Centre is aimed both continuing to encourage local interest in Bermuda?s history and helping Bermuda and the Town of St. George to attract visitors from around the world.

?The inside of the building will contain an Orientation and Trip Planning area, retail space area, administration office, a theatre, changing galleries, a library and resource and a children?s discovery area,? explained Ms Jacobs.

Up until recently the Corporation used this historical building for storage and a vendor used the other part. In August, the building was emptied as the Foundation plans on installing new floors, an elevator, a stairway in the centre of the building.

AJ Lewis Enterprises and various sub-contractors aim to have phase one completed by February, 2005.
