Discover the mysteries of life under the ocean
Those with a craving to learn about life under the sea have an opportunity to do just that at Marine Science Day, which will be held this Saturday at the Bermuda Biological Station for Research (BBSR).
Organisers say the event will be a fun filled and educational day for all ages and will include a number of different activities through which people can learn anything they want about what goes on in the depths of the ocean.
Those attending can learn about the hidden secrets of corals, about lobsters and sea sponges and about microscopic creatures which will be netted during mini research cruises and examined in the lab.
There will also be wacky scientists performing amazing experiments and King Neptune and his puppets will make appearances throughout the afternoon.
A spokesperson for the BBSR said that visitors will receive a backstage pass to BBSR's scientific facilities, giving them an insider's view of the laboratories, techniques, research ship and science programmes.
In addition, a raffle draw will give ticket holders a chance to win airline tickets, original artwork and a host of other prizes and there will be crafts and children's activities, face painting, food stalls and more.
Organiser Gillian Hollis said: "Marine Science Day gives us all a wonderful opportunity to learn about the ocean that surrounds us and have fun at the same time. We see the same faces year after year and lots of new ones too."
Admission is free and there will be a free parking shuttle from Kindley Field Road. More information is available on the BBSR website at www.bbsr.edu or by calling 297-1880.
