The Snorkel Park entertainment complex will play host to a special national event tomorrow night. The Heineken Green Synergy DJ Competition regional finals are set to light up the sky.

This annual competition is a qualifying tournament for the internationally acclaimed Heineken Green Synergy Caribbean Championships; which was broadcast on the popular new MTV Caribbean Music station Tempo last year.

Tomorrow night will feature the last three DJs standing from a field that has been remixed and refined through preliminary competitions all summer long. Last year?s representative, DJ Styles (who, by the way, represented Bermuda very well), will vie for the title again, but he will undoubtedly encounter stiff competition from the veteran DJ Kaos, and the excellent young upstart, Vybez Alliance.

Bermuda?s own Homegrown Band will entertain the early birds, while DJ Shock-N-Lust will keep the groove on while the combatants are resting. The contenders for the crown will be judged on such attributes as music selection, crowd interaction and technical skill, so this certainly promises to be an exciting evening indeed. Showtime is 10 p.m., and you get all this for the ridiculously low admission price of $10; now that?s an awesome event!

Celebrity judges include Juggling Jason and Radigan of Power 95, and a guest judge from Barmuvinjam, the group that brought last year?s Caribbean Champion, DJ Pauly from St. Maarten, to Bermuda to kick off the summer in explosive fashion back in June.

Speaking of Barmuvinjam, the crew that made the summer of 2006 magnificent will do it again on Saturday night, with the official cruise into the sunset, last cruise of the summer! The boat leaves Albouy?s Point at 8.30 p.m. sharp and will feature all the accoutrements Barmuvinjam members have come to expect. The flyer says that the cruise is for members only, but non-members are welcome to enquire. I suspect tickets will be available until they?re not available.
