Dockyard road race to benefit PALS

A group of energetic Bermudians will be running for a good cause this weekend, when the IAS & PARK 5K road race kicks off in Dockyard.

The race, run in conjunction with the West End Athletic Club, will be held Sunday, March 5 and will benefit PALS. The race is open to adult walkers and runners, and is part of the KPMG Series for Children.

Late entries will be accepted March 2 and 3 at Cathedral Hall, between 4 and 6 p.m., when numbers and t-shirts are issued. There will be no late entries on race day. The childrens? race (1.6K for ages 12 and under; 3K for ages 13-15) starts at 9 a.m. The adult walkers will begin their 5k walk at 9 a.m., as well. Adult Runners leave the Start Line at 9.30 a.m.

The Starting Line is on Malabar Road (east of the Shell Gas Station) to Dockyard, via Cochrane and Pender Roads, through Main Gate at Dockyard, turn right onto Freeport Drive (by docks) to Pender Road, over Bridge left to Lagoon Road and back to Malabar Field.

There will be fabulous draw prizes for walkers and runners, including travel vouchers and restaurant, gift and hotel certificates. The top male and female across the line will receive a one-night stay at the Fairmont Southampton Hotel. The top three finishers in each category will receive gift certificates.

The selected Charity to receive proceeds is PALS.
