Get ready for a night of reggae classics ? and a few surprises
Direct from Rome is Italy?s number one sound system One Love Hi Pawa.
They will be performing at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute (BUEI) tomorrow night.
Local acts BlackStar and Jake and Lenny will start things off.
Promoter Henry Harris said this will be their first time visiting the Island.
?They are excited and looking forward to it after recently coming off a Japanese tour,? he said.
?They are a reggae sound system and their variety includes selections from Beres Hammond and Israel Vibration to current dancehall sensations Vybz Cartel and Sean Paul.
?The point being, that they have an arsenal of music to choose from.? Most recently they have risen to fame for their appearance in a number of World Clashes where sound systems represent all corners of the globe.
?They compete by playing different ?specials/dub plates? that they have acquired,? Mr. Harris said.
?The crowd is the referee and they choose who stays on stage and who packs their equipment up. It is a truly unique environment for spectators and participants.
?Most recently on October 8, at the Elite Ark, in Brooklyn, NY close to 2,000 patrons witnessed Sentinel from Germany defeat some of the top names in the game.
?It is a reflection of how far reggae music has gone and continues to spread.?
One Love plays on a regular basis in Rome as well as other top European venues.
?They promise a night of classics with a few surprises in store for anyone who might question their versatility,? he said.
The venue is at La Coquille and your attire should match the venue. ?Translation equals, don?t show up in sneakers, jeans and hat.?
