Island boasts many beautiful resorts

I chose three of my romantic favourites from east to west that will replenish your soul as you enjoy quality time with the one you love for a weekend mini break.

GROTTO BAY BEACH RESORT, at 11 Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish, is a dreamy eastern resort nestled amid 21 acres of beautifully landscaped, oceanfront grounds. When you arrive you can easily forget the rest of the world and focus on being with that special someone.

There are three beautiful beaches with some of Bermuda's most protected ocean waters.

You can sun and swim or explore their two 500,000-year-old caves. The pristine water is quite cool!

"Come unto these yellow sands, and then take hands: Curtsied when you have, and kissed, - the wild waves whist, foot it featly here and there; And, sweet sprites, the burden hear," wrote William Shakespeare in 'The Tempest' (1611) based on the settlement of Bermuda

If you are feeling energetic they have four tennis courts with a pro shop and resident pro. Also there is a complete water sports centre and dive shop and exercise room.

Enjoy a fabulous dinner at the Hibiscus Dining Room and lunch at the Bayside Bar and Grill.

Mention their speciality package called, 'Bermuda Memories', effective April 19 through October 31, and be advised of their Honeymoon/Anniversary package.

They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and unlimited bar drinks (bottles of wine and champagne excluded), afternoon tea and a host of other things.

ELBOW BEACH, at 60 South Shore Road, Paget, was built in 1908 as the first resort on Bermuda's famous South Shore. It stands out as a classically beautiful resort especially following a $42 million renovation.

An impressive resort, it proudly stands above one of Bermuda's most beautiful and interesting beaches as many shipwrecks have occurred near its shore.

The wide, pink beach is wonderful for romantic beach walking and the sounds of the surf will hypnotise you.

A natural reef close to shore keeps the waters relatively tranquil and the snorkeling is interesting on bright, sunny days. Perhaps the reef was one of the reasons the First World War wreck of the Pollockshields occurred.

This hotel knows how to pamper their guests and room service is available 24 hours a day. If guests prefer a private chef, they can arrange for in-room tableside dining. The price is around $85 per person, with a two-person minimum.

Further along the South Shore sits the SONESTA BEACH RESORT Bermuda with 400 guestrooms offering the same upscale level of comfort and convenience, accompanied by an enticing view of turquoise sea.

Each room has a balcony or patio, so you are never more than a few steps from the natural beauty of Bermuda's beaches. This hotel is surrounded by three inviting beaches and situated on a 25-acre peninsula.

One of the most outstanding aspects here is the BerSalon Spa and Salon offering a variety of treatments to pamper the body, mind and soul. Have you ever had a massage with your mate?

This is a great place to revitalise your bodies. Indulge with a Swedish and Stress Therapy Massage. You might opt for a Marine Algae Body Treatment from Phytomer of Brittany and some Holistic Therapies such as Aromatherapy, Reiki and Reflexology.

After a full day of blissful beaching, swimming, tennis and spa opt for an intimate dinner for two with wine. Following a fine dinner, have a coffee while holding hands at the table and nurture a romantic moment, even share a kiss.

Each of these alluring resorts is sure to make romantic memories for a lifetime - memories of Bermuda.
