Jameka Kelly graduates
Jameka Shanae Kelly, daughter of Ms. Erica Kelly and Mr. Wayne Kelly, grand-daughter of Mr. Bernard Smith and Mrs. Ruth Kelly graduated with high honors - Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Landscape Architecture on May 10, 2003.
While attending North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, she received certificates of recognition for outstanding academic achievements with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.68 throughout the years 2000 - 2003. She is a member of the Sigma Lambda Alpha Honor Society and is the American Society of Landscape Architect's Certificate of Merit Award Recipient for the year 2002 - 2003. She also received the Dr. Charles A. Fountain award for academic and professional performance in the field of Landscape Architecture.
Her early education was at Harrington Sound Primary School, Northlands Secondary School and the Bermuda College where she received a Certificate of General Studies with Distinction.
A reception was held at Magnolia House and Cafe in Virginia to celebrate her achievements.
In June 2003, Jameka traveled to Disneyland, California with three members of here senior design class to participate in a Walt Disney Imagineering University Design Competition to present their group project. Mirijato Cultural Gardens, to Imagineer judges and executives. Her groups' design was awarded second place.
In September 2004, Jameka plans to attend the Harvard Design School to pursue her interest in Landscape Architecture.
Attending the graduation were relatives from Bermuda including her parents, aunts and uncles; Leon and Lynnell Turini, Oland and Dr. Muriel Wade-Smith, Verna Perinchief, Eyvette Smith, Beverley Paynter, Delwin and Grace Riley and Llewellyn Smith; godmother Robin Burgess; cousins, Nadine Smith, Sharnelle and Jevon Rudolph, Shiona Turini, Michelle Perinchief, Shae'Vonne Simmons, Gareth and Jerome Smith, Olivia Riley & Derek Burrows.

Mr. Dennis A Symonds of Bermuda has been selected to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) from July 20 to July 31 in Washington D.C. and New York City. GYLC is a unique leadership development program for secondary school students from around the world who have demonstrated leadership potential and scholastic merit. Symonds will be among 350 outstanding scholars from around the world to attend the Conference.
The theme of GYLC is The Leaders of Tomorrow Preparing for the Global Challenges and Responsibilities of the Future. Symonds will interact with key leaders and newsmakers with powerful influence over politics, finance, culture and diplomacy, and will take park in a carefully designed curriculum, which includes thought-provoking simulations that build leadership skills.
Dennis Aaron's other accomplishments inlcude: 2002 Lyons Club representative to the US, where he exhibited his talent as a drummer. 2003 Teen Male Spiritual Leader. 2003 Berkeley Graduate.
He is the son or Rev. Dennis and Mrs. Delores Symonds and brother to Mrs. Rondelle Richard and husband Mr. Andrew Richardson.
