Killifish lecture

The Bermuda Zoological Society will present a lecture on the killifish, which is now found in only nine ponds around the Island. Mark Outerbridge, who is a research associate with the Bermuda Biodiversity Project, will present the lecture entitled Bermuda?s Endemic Killifish: One of our National Treasures.

It takes place this evening at 7 p.m. in the Education Auditorium, at the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum & Zoo (BAMZ).

Mr. Outerbridge has spent the last two years investigating the ecology of Bermuda?s endemic killifish species. During the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Killifish were once described as abundant and widespread in the wetland communities throughout Bermuda, but recent surveys have confirmed that they are now only found in nine small, isolated ponds.

Find out how the results from his study will help local conservationists in implementing suitable species recovery plans.
