Lecture will shed some light on a piece of cloth that's shrouded in mystery

Is the Shroud of Turin the burial cloth of Jesus? You maybe able to draw your own conclusions tonight after hearing a lecture from long-time visitor to Bermuda, Dr. Remi Dubuque.

Dr. Dubuque, an expert on the Shroud of Turin and its carbon dating, has offered to do a give a free talk at 7 p.m. tonight at the Bermuda National Library in Par La Ville Park, Hamilton.

Dr. Dubuque has been giving talks on the shroud for several years. A former college lecturer, he holds a Doctorate from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. He is now in semi-retirement and works for the Hartford Courant.

Dr. Dubuque's lecture will primarily focus on the scientific aspects of the cloth, in particular, what could be gleaned from photographic, chemical, microbiological, forensic and historical evidences and other studies. A brief history of the cloth and some well-supported arguments against the sceptics will also be offered. At the conclusion of the one-hour presentation, Dr. Dubuque will be available for questions.

This special lecture on the Shroud of Turin is free to the public, although donations to the Friends of the Library can be made.

Dr. Dubuque and his wife, who own a timeshare in Bermuda, have been regular visitors to the Island for the past 15 years.
