Next month 18 young women from all over Bermuda will compete in the final competition in the Miss Teen Bermuda pageant, but only one girl will win the coveted crown and be named Miss Teen Bermuda.

The girls will be "tested" in three different categories of the competition to determine who should win. They will be interviewed by a panel of judges and given points on how well they speak and present themselves.

Each time the girls move through a segment they will be interviewed, gaining more points that will eventually add up to their final score.

They will also have to present a platform including their interests and future goals, this segment is basically a personality test. The girls will also will answer identical questions and earn scores depending on how well they answer them.

All three of the segments will contribute to the judges decision in who will be chosen.Contest organiser Terry Smith explained that the girls will not only be tested on appearance but on how intellectual they are. He also said that in the contest "we want more than just a pretty face".
