The Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society (BMDS) will present the award-winning play, `Frozen,' at Daylesford Theatre from October 22-27. It will be directed by Dr. Barbara Jones, and have as its cast Carol Birch, Janice Kennett, Stephen Notman and Angus Brown.
`Frozen' was written in 1998 by Bryony Lavery for the Birmingham Reperatory Theatre in England, and deals with the sudden death of a loved one in unbearable circumstances. It also chronicles the difficult journey through pain and loss to acceptance and, finally, forgiveness.
Dr. Jones is well known in theatre circles, both as an actress, director, and most recently as designer of the stunning costumes for the successful Coward play, `Hay Fever,' which was also produced by the BMDS.
The box office will be open at Daylesford Theatre from October 15-19 from 5.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., and on performance nights from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Telephone bookings with Mastercard and Visa will be accepted during box office hours (292-0848. Former Bermuda Philharmonic Society conductor and principal of the Bermuda Academy of Music Graham Garton is now conducting the Sleaford Choral Society in the town of the same name in Lincolnshire, England. He is also the organist and choirmaster at St. Botolph's Church in Quarrington, Lincolnshire, and he and his wife Barbara teach from their home, as well as having a studio in Boston, Lincolnshire. The Sleaford Choral Society's first public performance under 72-year-old Mr. Garton's baton will be a carol concert in December. Next year's plans include performances of Stainer's `Crucifixion' and Mozart's `Requiem.'
