People: Nicola and Jody Feldman
Nicola M. Feldman, daughter of Marilyn Feldman of Smith's Parish, was the recipient of the Seymour Willis Beardsley Track Award at a sports banquet held recently at The Taft School, Watertown, Connecticut.
The award is given "to that member of the Track Team who most thoroughly typifies the finest spirit and accomplishment of the ideals of the School laid down by Horace Taft".
Coach Steve Palmer said: "Nicola began running track as a junior but became one of the most dedicated members of the team. This year she was the team's number one 800 metre runner, with a best time of 2:29, and she anchored the 4x400m, helping to win two meets that came down to this final event. She received the track award for her great work ethic in practices and her passion for running." The girls finished the season with an outstanding 8-2 record. They were second in the Founders League.
At the Graduation ceremonies at The Taft School, Nicola was inducted into the Cum Laude Society, which is the secondary school counterpart of Phi Beta Kappa at the collegiate level and was founded in 1908 to encourage and recognise extraordinary scholarship. Nicola will be pursuing her further education at Georgetown University, where she was accepted as an early admissions candidate.
Jody T. Feldman, son of Marilyn Feldman of Smith's Parish, has been named to the Dean's List at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania in recognition of superior academic work during the past semester.
