Dr. Beresford M. Swan OBE., first went to Trafalgar Square in London for a moment of silence for those who were killed in the recent London bombings.

Later he travelled to Buckingham Palace where he was privileged to meet Queen Elizabeth and be presented with an OBE.

Dr. Swan congratulated the Queen on the fortitude of herself and her people during the time of the recent bombings. The Queen in turn expressed her appreciation to Dr. Swan for his encouraging remarks.

Attending the ceremony at Buckingham Palace was his wife, Lucille Parker-Swan; his daughter, Suzanne Marie Swan-Colon; his son, Beresford Jr.

Garon Dowling recently graduated from Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida with a bachelor of arts degree in human services.

Prior to that, Garon attended Warwick Academy and Florida Air Academy.

The occasion was attended by his father, George Dowling Jr., mother Racquel Wainwright ad other family members and friends.

K. Azelia Providence, of Sandys, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Medicine by St. George?s University, School of Medicine, during a ceremony held on June 12, 2005, at Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, New York City.

St. George?s University is an international centre of education whose primary campus is located in Grenada. Founded as a school of medicine in 1976, the university now has pre-medicine and pre-veterinary programmes, a school of arts & sciences, and a school of graduate studies.

In addition, the University established a school of veterinary medicine in 1999 and is drawing students around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean.

Dr. Providence will be performing her residency in obstetrics and gynaecology at University of Tennessee College in Memphis. As a student she was a member of Iota Epsilon Alpha, an academic honour society, and she received her Masters in Public Health. She was also on the Dean?s List and the Chancellor?s List.

Dr. Providence is the daughter of Theodore and Thelma Providence of Sandys.

Thomas J. Greenslade has graduated from St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick with a bachelor of arts, majoring in criminology and sociology. Thomas was a dedicated player for the university?s rugby team, during his four years.

Attending the graduation from Bermuda were Thomas? parents, Stanley and Terri Greenslade, and brother Mathew, and several friends from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Thomas is a graduate of Saltus Grammar 2000, and the Saltus Graduate Year in 2001.

Marie and Ryan Kromer are very blessed with the birth of their baby girl, Bianca Marie.

She was born on February 26, 2005 and weighed five pounds, 13.5 ounces and was 19 inches long. She was baptised at St. Michael?s Roman Catholic Church on August 7, 2005.

Jennifer S. Sterling has graduated from St. Augustine?s College in the ?top eight? of the 400+ member class of 2005 with a 3.87 GPA, Summa cum laude; highest honour given to a graduate.

Jennifer majored in physical education/teacher education. Attending the graduation was her husband Damon, children Kimberley, Cianna, Kiante?, and Jaida, her sisters Gwen Lightbourne, Paulette Burgess, Alethea Roberts, and Janet DeShield, brother Rev. Michael Bean, and her nephew Zayne Bean.

Nicole E. Mitchell recently was awarded an honours bachelor of computing degree with distinction at the spring convocation held at Queen?s University, Ontario, Canada. While at Queen?s, Nicole was a volunteer in the Kaleidoscope mentoring programme with local primary school students.

Nicole is the daughter of Malcolm and Carole Mitchell of Southampton, previously attended Trinity College School, Ontario, and Bermuda High School for Girls.

Over the past four years,she was the recipient of several scholarships including the Ewan Sampson Scholarship, the PricewaterhouseCoopers Scholarship and the Bermuda Government Scholarship. Nicole is grateful to those n the community who provided assistance during her university career.

Attending the ceremony were her parents, her sister Michelle, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. J. Macrae Mitchell of ?Fairhaven?, Paget, and Mrs. Yvette Gauthier of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

In September, Miss Mitchell will be returning to Queen?s University to pursue a master of science degree in computing.
