Popular guitarist returns to help PALS
The man who plays to capacity audiences whenever he comes here will soon be back to thrill local fans all over again.
Dynamic Argentinian-born guitarist Alex Fox will give two fund-raising performances on June 23 and 24 in aid of PALS, the registered cancer charity.
The first performance, at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, is a $250-per-ticket event, which will begin with cocktails on the terrace from 7 p.m. to the accompaniment of saxophonist Aaron Daniels. This will be followed by a full dinner in the hotel, a silent auction, and dancing. In addition to Mr. Fox and his nine-piece band, entertainment will also be provided by steel drummer Sandy Butterfield, Howie Rego and the Frontline Band, and the Bermuda Salsa dancers.
Some tickets remain for this event, and may be purchased at PALS headquarters on Point Finger Road but the word is ?hurry?.
As always, the beautiful waterfront park at Barr?s Bay ? this time its atmosphere enhanced by many the visiting Newport-Bermuda Race yachts berthed nearby ? will once again provide the perfect setting for the Saturday, June 24 concert. While admission is free, donations to PALS will be welcomed. Parking (always a problem in the Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke area) will be eased thanks to Ace, XL and PW?s, all of whom are making their spaces available in exchange for donations to PALS. Drivers are advised to arrive early, however, since demand always exceeds supply.
In addition to Mr. Fox and his bigger-than-ever band (which includes his two talented sons, David and Sebastian, and a dancer), entertainment will also be provided by Howie Rego and the Front Line Band, and the Bermuda Salsa dancers.
During the show, the Fox band will perform the song ?Bermuda My Beautiful Bermuda? written by Bermudian Judy Tavares. Mr. Fox?s latest CD will also be available for sale, which includes songs written by son David.
Food and beverages will be available, supplied by Tuscany Restaurant and Blue Juice Disco Bar.
Since the concert is an outdoor event, should the unthinkable happen, the rain date will be Sunday, June 25.
This will be the popular international entertainer?s fourth visit to the Island, thanks to the generosity of the same Tucker?s Town resident ? and fan ? who has underwritten the cost of each one of them.
