Rankin honoured in the Big Apple
The Museum of Television & Radio in Manhattan announced plans to honour Bermudian Arthur Rankin as part of its Fall 2003 seminar series.
The museum will run Mr. Rankin's animated television specials in the exhibit “Have a Holly Jolly Christmas”.
The exhibit will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the New York Museum, 25 West 52 St., New York, NY 10029.
Mr. Rankin had teamed up with Jules Bass to produce Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer in 1964 and since then have produced over 30 animated specials for television including Christmas cartoons “Santa Claus is Comin' to Town” and “Frosty the Snowman”. As part of the events at the opening Mr. Rankin will discuss his early work with stop-motion animation and his relationship with partner Jules Bass.
Tickets are $15 ($12 for museum members) and may be purchased in the museum lobby during regular museum hours (Tuesdays through Sundays, 12 to 6 p.m., and until 8 p.m. on Thursdays), or by calling the museum at 212/621-6600, from 12 to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays.
