obyn DeSilva admires her mother?s creative mind and the fact that she always tries to make life easier for her.

Joyce Elaine DeSilva?s daughter says she has always worked hard to give her everything she needs. ?I am so proud that I have her as my mother,? she says.

?I want to be like her when I grow up. I admire her creative mind, that is always coming up with artistic ideas ? the way she perceives things is creative

?It puts a different perspective on the world. I have learned so much from her, and I know she has a lot more to teach me. I also love that she and I share a friendship as well; I like to be around her, and share my stories with her, and I love the relationship that I have with her.?

Ms DeSilva, who is an only child, says she and her mom have had some ?really great recent memories, of times that my mother and I have shared together?. ?I try to always make my mother smile, but it?s really her that is always trying to make my life better, and easier, and happier,? she says.

?She?s really good at it too, when I?m with her, I?m happier.?

Ms DeSilva says her favourite meal cooked by her mother is macaroni and cheese.

Asked how her mother?s presence has changed her life or inspired her to be a better person, she says: ?My mom has taught me so much, and everything she has done has inspired me to be who I am. I am always learning from her, and learning that when she tells me something, it?s right, and to just not fight it.?
