Singer Allan Taylor returns this month
Singer/songwriter Allan Taylor will be among friends when he returns to the Island this month to perform at the Bermuda Folk Club.
The musician, whose songs have been covered by such luminaries as Fairport Convention, Frankie Miller, Nana Mouskouri and Don Williams, has been performing here since the 1980s.
And with more than 35 years in the business, spectators at the Old Colony Club on September 22 can be assured of a polished performance. His songs pack a powerful punch but his easy-going manner and humour provide light relief.
As befits someone with a Ph.D in ethnomusicology, his taste is eclectic.
His 1970s band Cajun Moon served up traditional Louisiana-style music you would expect from its title but also mixed in medieval and Appalachian music.
Speaking after last year's appearance, he said Bermuda was always open to his wide-ranging tastes.
He said: "Here they don't care if it's folk music or whatever - I have always had a good time."
Tickets for the concert at the Old Colony Club in Trott Road, Hamilton are $20 ($15 for Folk Club members) and are available from Music Box or from Hannah at (236-9608.
