Hundreds of people attended the annual Garden Club of Bermuda flower show in St. George's yesterday.

Displays could be found at various properties throughout the old town, including Hard-a-Lee and Red Barracks, on Speaker's Drive, St. Peter's Church, Aunt Nea's Inn, Harbour View, Samaritans' Cottages, and Boatswain's Watch

A spokesman at Aunt Nea's Inn said she was directing a mixture of locals and tourists to the displays.

"Droves of people are coming," she said.

"It is busy and hundreds of people are coming through. Some are off the ship and there are lots of locals as well."

A Spring Garden market offering crafts, plants, raffles and a silent auction was held at St. Peter's while walking tours of both public and private gardens left from the Town Hall, on King's Square.

The Printery, on Featherbed Alley, had demonstrations on paper-making.

The annual show is in aid of a scholarship for students who are studying horticulture and for the design, restoration and maintenance of public gardens.
