Teenage Russian pianist to perform on Saturday night

The 19-year-old Russian pianist Andrei Gugnin graces the Bermuda Festival stage tomorrow evening for a single performance.

Born in 1987, the artist began his music studies at age seven. Initially graduating from the Moscow Conservatory Music School for particularly gifted children, Mr. Gugnin went on to study and develop under some of the world?s best teachers.

He has already won many prizes and awards for his musicianship, among them the ?Music? category of the All-Russian Literary-Artistic Competition with his essay, ?Russia: The dialog and the future?. He has been a holder of the Guzik Foundation scholarship since 2003.

In addition, this young, talented pianist has performed with the Moscow State Symphonic Orchestra, the Symphonic Orchestra of the Academic Music College at the Moscow State Conservatoire, and the Dutch National Orchestra, and has given concerts in Russia, Germany, Israel and Holland.

While appearing with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra during its Bermuda Festival appearances this week, Mr. Gugnin?s solo recital tomorrow night will give his audience a rare opportunity to witness the talent of a genius in the making, whose journey to international stardom has only just begun.
