Teens triumph at awards ceremony
Some of Bermuda's finest young people scooped up honours at this year's Outstanding Teen Awards ceremony.
The Overall Outstanding Teen was Bermuda High School student Tiffany Paynter, who is setting herself some high aims - she wants to become the Minister of Education.
Tiffany won the award for her involvement in community service work and for organising Black History month at her high school. She also began a summer day care programme for parents with a limited budget.
Other awards went to students who showed strong leadership abilities, participated in community service projects, sports, spiritual leadership, students who had made the most progress, showed incentive, those who were active in the performing arts and scholastic ability.
The top leadership awards went to Attiya Talbot and Neville Zuill.
Berkeley Institute student Attiya had dedicated more than 300 hours volunteering as a Candy Striper.
At Warwick Academy, Neville Zuill, is deputy head boy, a prefect and a house captain.
The Leadership Special Recognition award went to CedarBridge Academy student Zahra Muhammed.
The Most Progress Award went to Bermuda Institute student Clay Smith and Bermuda High School student Krystle Phillips.
Aside from studying, Clay is also a prolific writer of poetry, short essays and is also gaining experience during day release at .
Krystle won because she has raised her grade average from a 'D' to a 'B'.
Awards were given to students who selflessly involved themselves in community service.
The overall winners of the Community Service Award were presented to CedarBridge Academy student Josu? Paulos, who organised a canned food drive and love boxes, and Berkeley Institute student Shalane Dill for her work in senior homes.
The Performing Arts awards went to Berkeley Institute students Shoa Bean and Eric Bean.
The Scholastic Awards went to Ashley Chandler and Berkeley Institute student Shammah Williams.
The Scholastic Special Recognition Award was awarded to Mount Satin Agnes student Tiffany Douglas.
Warwick Academy student Gareth Williams and Berkeley Institute student Sharai Brunson scooped the Outstanding Teen Sports Awards.
Bermuda Institute student Estina Francis won the Spiritual Leadership Award and Johanna Traxel from Saltus Grammar School won the Special Spiritual Recognition award.
