?Tempest? performances to begin on June 20

If you?ve always wanted to see the play that was inspired by Bermuda?s discovery, here?s your chance with a production put on by Waterspout Theatre.

?William Shakespeare?s ?The Tempest? is thought to have been inspired by the real life adventures of Sir George Somers on Bermuda?s shores,? said organiser John Zuill.

?The Tempest? is the story of the wronged Duke of Milan and magician Prospero who is shipwrecked on an enchanted island.

?Shakespeare?s fairytale examines colonialism, power, corruption, redemption and ultimately, the healing power of humanity,? said Mr. Zuill.

?The Tempest? will be brought to life in the perfect setting for outdoor Shakespeare, Fort Hamilton. The play runs nightly at 8 p.m. from June 20 to July 2 with no Sunday performances.

Produced by Dionne Devoy the play is directed by Andrew Bacon and stars John Zuill as Prospero, Annette Hallett as Ariel and Doug Jones as Caliban alongside a raft of striking new talent. ?With live music composed by Mathew Joseph and wonderful costumes lovingly created by Barbara Jones this production of Shakespeare?s ?The Tempest? promises to be a real treat,? said Mr. Zuill. Tickets are available for $15 from the Bermuda Bookstore or online at www.boxoffice.bm
