Connecticut: Seasons of Light, Cradle of American Impressionism an hour-long film that celebrates the natural beauty of the landscapes, seasides and pastoral settings that fostered and nurtured the birth of American Impressionism in Connecticut at the turn of the 20th century. Narrator Brian Dennehy and leading scholars and authors in the field reveal a fascinating and emotional story of the lives of five of the best-known American Impressionists ? Childe Hassam, Willard Metcalf, Therodore Robinson, John Twachtman and J. Alden Weir ? and the beloved Connecticut scenes that inspired their art and an entire American art movement.Connecticut: Seasons of Light, Cradle of American Impressionism commingles images of nature with the artist's paintings of similar scenes, capturing a love of place and en plein air painting that left a legacy of renowned works of art borne from the original art colonies along the American Impressionist Art Trail. Many of these works are on view today in museums and cultural sites in Connecticut that attract audiences from around the world.
