ENNIO (January 11-13)

Stand-up comedian and star of a recent Royal Variety Show in London, Ennio Marchetto makes musical fun of high profile figures in the world arena with the aid of caricature paper costumes and a keen sense of humour. A short, slick, high-energy show.

EROICA TRIO (January 17, 18)

Vibrant, all-female music ensemble perform an upbeat programme of sensual elegance and technical virtuosity.

THE GRUFFALO AND FRIENDS (January 19-21)

Award-winning UK children?s author Julia Donaldson brings her well-loved stories to life onstage at Daylesford Theatre. Songs and audience participation included in this hour-long performance, where the audience gets to meet the Gruffalo, a naughty princess, a stupid butterfly and a wicked emperor.

THE ROYAL BALLET (January 23-25)

Glittering classical gala featuring current principals and soloists of London?s renowned Royal Ballet. Former principal of the company, Wayne Sleep, will again make a light-hearted guest appearance, and comp?re the gala in his inimitable style.

A WOMAN IN WAITING (January 26, 27)

In a unique and moving tribute to the human spirit, gifted storyteller and actress Thembi Mtshali tells her own story, powerfully evoking South Africa?s torn past and hopeful future. A biographical tour de force created by The Farber Foundry director Yael Farber.

MELBA MOORE: SWEET SONGS

OF THE SOUL (January 30, 31)

Renowned American songstress and Tony Award winner re-visits her highly successful career through an autobiographical play with music, supported by her musical director on piano, and a quartet of musicians on bass, drums, saxophone and guitar.

MAX MAVEN THINKING IN PERSON (February 2, 3)

Sophisticated one-man show blending mind-reading, magic, storytelling and droll humour in a charismatic delivery with a touch of sarcasm. Compelling style, surprises, incomprehensible feats and amusing witticisms.

LA BOH?ME (February 8-10)

Puccini?s ?La Boh?me?, arguably the most popular of all operas, is filled with beautiful melodies. In this Opera ? la Carte version, set in the 1960s, four students have made a deliberate choice to drop out and lead a Bohemian life.

VANGUARD JAZZ ORCHESTRA (February 12, 13)

A regular fixture at New York?s Village Vanguard, this renowned band will take listeners on a temporary journey to the vibrant New York jazz scene with its thrilling sounds.

MARK MORRIS DANCE GROUP (February 16, 17)

Mark Morris? wit, grace and refined musicality make him one of the mostly highly regarded choreographers of our time. The dance group will be accompanied by the MMDG Music Ensemble, making it one of the largest modern dance companies to grace the Festival stage.

RED PRIEST (February 21, 22)

Wildly dramatic theatrical presentation bringing Baroque music firmly into the 21st century with outlandish costumes, and breathtaking technical and visual effects.

MOSCOW CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (February 22, 23)

Dynamic soloists and breathtaking ensemble playing will once again thrill local audiences as they present two different programmes, both featuring saxophonist Federico Mondelci.

ANDREI GUGNIN (February 24)

Outstanding 19-year-old Russian pianist is already making his mark on international tours. A student at the Moscow Conservatory, he has won numerous domestic and international awards.

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY (February 28, March 1)

Shakespeare?s ?Romeo and Juliet?, a tale of uncompromising true love, has stood the test of time as one of the greatest stories ever told. In a courageous and risk-taking move, the play of chance, guided by a complicit audience, will decide each night which actor will play which role, often against type, gender and age, creating new found excitement and drama.

AQUILA THEATRE COMPANY (March 2,3)

Chaucer?s renowned ?Canterbury Tales? are given a fast moving, deliciously saucy, slightly naughty treatment in this dynamic production, which promises to end this year?s Festival on an uplifting note.
