The green, green grass of Mount St. Agnes!

Pupils at Mount St. Agnes Academy in Hamilton are proud of fresh new grass stains to their knees, elbows and feet.

Thanks to a generous donation by the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, pupils have their very own sports field ? the first one in the school's 115 year history.

In previous years, pupils had to make the arduous journey to Bernard Park, St. John's Field or BAA for sports and other activities, but on Wednesday a field, about two-thirds the size of a regular sports field, was "unveiled" at the school.

Chairman of the School Board of Governors, Garry Madeiros said it was only because of the $500,000 donation by the Bank of Bermuda Foundation that the school was able to purchase and convert a small piece of land into a sports field.

Dennis Tucker from the Foundation was on hand this week for the special unveiling of a plaque which now proudly sits on a wall near the field.

While the sports field might not be big enough for full-fledged soccer games, Mr. Madeiros said it would be used for physical education activities and soccer practice as well as outdoor games for the pupils.
