Tufts Orchestra in Bermuda to perform
Tufts University Orchestra (TFO) are in Bermuda to give one public concert and two school performances.
Tomorrow they will perform works by Mussorgsky, Dvorak, Copland, Barber and Haydn at the Anglican Cathedral at 7.30 p.m. Admission is free, but a collection will be taken.
The visiting orchestra will perform for students at Berkeley Institute today at 10.30 a.m., and at Warwick Academy on Monday morning.
With over 70 active members at any given time, the TFO is one of the university's largest and most active performing ensembles. Its repertoire includes works by Mahler, Beethoven, Mozart and Handel, and it performs both on campus and in the greater Boston community, as well as touring to such countries as Jamaica, Portugal, Iceland, Greece, Brazil, France, Germany and Costa Rica.
Tufts Symphony's music director is Malka Sverdlov Yaacobi, a graduate of Tel Aviv University. The holder of artist diplomas in piano performance and choral conducting and a DMA in orchestral conducting, Ms Yaacobi held senior posts in Germany and Tel Aviv, including those of staff conductor and chorus mistress of the New Israeli opera prior to coming to the US.
