Vance Chapman and Vanita Varma
On Saturday, July 29, 2006, Vance Chapman, son of LaVerne Furbert and Earlston Chapman of Bermuda, and Vanita Varma, daughter of Indira and Sudhanshu Varma of Montreal, Canada, were married at the Ward's Island Association Clubhouse, Ward's Island, Toronto, Canada.
The Hindu-Vedic marriage ceremony was performed by Priestess Sareen.
Attending the wedding from Bermuda were the groom's mother and friend, Eugene Coddington, his brother, David, and his aunt Maxine Esdaille.
Also in attendance were the groom's cousins, Earlston Burrows from Long Island, New York and Edwin and Kay Darrell from Detroit, Michigan.
The bride's two paternal aunts travelled from India to attend the special occasion. Friends and family of the bride also travelled from the United Kingdom and from all over the United States and Canada.
Because the bride is the first female in the Varma family to be married in over 30 years, the wedding was special to them. Another reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held in Montreal on Sunday, August 27.
Mr. Chapman is an independent screenwriter in Canada and his new wife has just graduated for the second time from the University of Toronto as a registered nurse.
