If you like class ... this is your scene
A classy affair for Bermuda’s youngsters is set to get underway at the Ozone night club for New Year’s Eve.
The Borderline Entertainment NYE Party is being managed by Unité Event Marketing and Promotions.
Belcario Thomas, of Unité, said they were planning something special for the urban party crowd — essentially, a party with the ladies in mind.
Antonio Taylor, of Borderline Entertainment, said this was not the first time that his company had worked with Unité.
“What I am trying to do is to bring a better class or style of entertainment to a younger age group,” said Mr. Taylor.
“There are too many times when you go to a party and there is just a DJ. I am trying to bring it up a level because the older crowd often has parties with quality decoration and various types of entertainment, but when it comes to the younger parties, no one seems to want to put in the money to actually get the quality entertainment that they need.
“This is pretty much what I have been bringing to the table. You hear that people are opening up their entertainment company here and there, but it is becoming all-to-common and I am trying to set myself aside from everyone else, because it is not just promotions, it is not just entertainment — it is event management, which requires sponsorship.
“So if it is done right, it will encourage other people to do the same. So hopefully in 2007, we will see better parties.
“When Unité came out they really stepped it up and because of the people who were in that age group and it encouraged other companies to step it up.
“I am trying to come out with a fresh start and I have been doing this for four or five years now. I started when I was in the USA with Borderline Entertainment and when I came out here the people who started that company gave me permission to run a company out here, so I have put together a small team of individuals who assist me when I have events.
“I do most of the stuff myself, like promotions and this helps to cut costs and also I am sure that things get done properly and I am not always waiting for someone else.”
Mr. Thomas said that the overall aim of Unité was to seek to help the entertainment and social community of Bermuda grow.
“To do that we will be looking to spread support amongst the entire community with innovative ideas and existing industry leaders,” he said. “Unité hopes to assist in filling the increasing need for the youthful though very important urban market to grow and flourish.
“To help to achieve this we will seek to link up with the top players, promoters, DJs, event organisers and other key shakers in the industry, and assist them in reaching quality brands to help further serve this emerging and important market.
“Brands across the major markets are understanding the value of the urban, and especially hip hop market and have made major alterations to their sponsorship and cross promotional strategies because of it. “From Mercedes Benz to Moet, from Louis Vuitton to cell phone brands, companies and brands have taken notice of impact full, high return on investment and broadening of their base by joining in on the fray and seeing the immediate potential of this market.
“With plans being crafted now for 2007, interested brands interested in cross promotional and sponsorship opportunities can reach Unité on 737-0002.”
The Borderline NYE ‘07 party at Ozone will feature two party vibes, two party rooms the Moet Lounge and the Hypnotic and Hennesy Club with, two of Bermuda’s most popular young DJs Twin Starr and Vybez Alliance.
“Two free drinks from Goslings for the ladies upon entry and a special live guest performance by top crooner Ninja Cutty who is promoting his new single,” said Mr. Thomas.
“The sexy Borderline Dancers and other cool party give-a-ways and party favours will round out the night with a dress to impress door code. “There will be special Vybez Alliance (VA) CD give-a-ways and samples for the ladies of a hit new fragrance called VA Passion.’
Mr. Taylor added that the party will be a classy semi-formal event and he has promised that Ozone will have an entirely new decor.
“Everyone expects that it would be the same old thing, but it will totally knock you off guard,” he said.
“It’s not about making money out here, but as long as I have put on a quality party and everyone who came enjoyed themselves.”
Tickets are available now and on the night at Ozone Nightclub, and various retail outlets around town and street promoters. Tickets $70.
